SLC Greens ascended the summit of ‘We Areh The Champions’ by a firepower display thrashing SLC Greys by 23 runs in the finals of the Sri Lanka Cricket 2025 T20 League Championship on Saturday at the SInhalese Sports Club Grounds.
The Greens by and large, made sure the trophy was in their pocket in blasting the Greys bowling attack into submission with Kusal Mendis leading the way
by a Player of the Match 77 off 47 steam rolled by clearing the stands by five clean strokes and equal number of boundaries followed by unbeaten cameos by Sadeera Samarawickrama 49 off 29 and Kamindu Mendis, an exemplary captain’s hurrah 42 off 28 in a total of 189 for 4 wickets off 20 overs.
It swept the Greys off their feet despite the gallantry of the now sidelined Niroshan Dickwella. who hit back at the country’s selectors scoring 50 off 28 balls with 3 sixes and 5 boundaries and Dinesh Chandimal 36 off 21 in a 70 run bonding in the 6 power play overs that put their side on an even keel of reaching the victory target.
But that was as far as the Greys would go with the rest of their frontline failing to capitalise on that fine start except for skipper Charith Asalanka’s 21, but for once nowhere to batting his side through against the well oiled Greens bowling attack led by the 3 wicket Chamika Karunaratne and two each by Dushmantha Chameera and Kamindu Mendis, the latter a superb all-round display.
