Less fancied Malay CC made pickle out of the strong SSC boasting of the likes of white ball captain Charith Asalanka and former SL captain Dasun Shanaka who were sent back to the pavilion cheaply in Malay CC regaining the Sri Lanka Cricket Tier B Club Championship title for a second consecutive year yesterday st the Colts CC grounds.
Wrecking SSCs batting was mainly Thimara Malshan who took 3 for 21.
The trophy success was particularly special for Malay CC skipper Sudhara Dhakshina whose superb captaincy tactics enabled the underdog team to sending the strong SSC side reeling.
SSC folded up for 100 in 19.2 overs with only Avishka Fernando resisting with a 37 off 35 on a day Malay CCs twosome of Kavinda and Chanaka Devinda contributing to that demolition claiming two wickets each.
Malay CC fired their way to the trophy glitter on a handsome 101 for 6 in 18.2 overs with openers Kavinda Ishwara 26 off 18 with 4 boundaries and a six and Hirantha8 Jayasinghe 19 posting 32 off 4.5 overs with Buddhika Hasaranga smashing 25 off 30 balls with 2 boundaries adding the final flourish winning eith 10 balls to spare.
