The game of cricket dubbed the ‘Gentleman’s Game’ was literally dragged to the dustbin not only by the Indian cricket team, but by the Indian Prime Minister, Modi in politicising the just concluded Asia Cup in deeming it fit to have a go at the Pakistan cricket team by referring to India’s cup triumph as, ‘Operation Sindoor.’ Literally meaning that the innocent Pakistan cricketers were their enemy to be done away with.
This 2025 Asia Cup by and large witnessed conceit, hate and ridiculing at work at its very height seeping through the covers of cricket by the actions of the Indian cricket team led by Suryakumar Yadav who cut a terrific bad example by snubbing his opposite number Salman Aga in a dirty spillover of not shaking hands with the Pakistan players who stood after their first match for the customary after match protocol handshake.
It was history in the making in this instance of bad blood diluting the noble game by India led by Suryakumar kicking what is sacrosanct in the game with a to hell with it attitude of having a go at the Pakistan team in breach of all norms of goodwill.
