Dinesh Chandimal yesterday underlined that old gold is solid as the veteran former Sri Lanka captain launched a high class 132 when the chips were down to lifting Galle from a dire 67 for 4 wickets to an end of the day 265 for 7 wickets versus Colombo on the opening day of the Sri Lanka Cricket National Super League Tournament fixture that got underway at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium yesterday.
Chandimal fine tuned in 14 boundaries and one to the stands in a 320 minute stay figuring in a sixth wicket 119 alliance with all-rounder Ramesh Mendis who once again displayed his durability to batting his side out of trouble in a down the line lower order role. He was unbeaten on 56 from 158 balls tucked with 4 fours.
Dhananjaya Lakshan took 3 for 51 for Colombo.
