CCC and Bloomfield clash in mega youth U23 final

CCC and Bloomfield pulled off first innings wins in their rain marred semi-finals against Nugegoda W&SC and Negombo CC respectively in the mega youth domestic Sri Lanka Cricket U23 Emerging Clubs 2-day Tournament that ended yesterday.

Accordingly, CCC and Bloomfield will lock horns in the finals on September 23 and 24 at the SSC grounds.

CCC won over Nugegoda W&SC on a score of 179 as against their opponent’s 143 despite Akram Muthalif’s back to the wall 69 off 97 balls hitting 6 boundaries.

CCCs innings revolved around Sahan Kosala’s 37 ball 41 with 7 boundaries and a six followed by Inuka Karannagoda 22 off 39 with 2 boundaries.
Abdul Hakeem took 3 wickets for 59 for Nugegoda which was dismissed for 143. S. Samarasinghe made the next highest score of 20.

CCCs Duvindu Ranatunga claimed 3 wickets for 37 and Karannagoda 3 for 31 respectively.

CCC were 61 for 2 in the second innings with Arosha Sithumina unbeaten on 30.
Abdul Hakeem took the two wickets to fall.

Meanwhile, Bloomfield shot out Negombo CC for 116 in and posted a healthy 147 for 5 with Asitha Wanninayake on song striking 69 off 132 balls crossing the boundary line on eight occasions and one over the top.

Bloomfield’s Nisala Abeyratne returned fantastic figures of 5 wickets for 24.
