Colombo North won their semi-final match of the Sri Lanka Cricket Under 17 Youth League 50 Over Limited Overs Tournament against Kandy yesterday on the DLS by 71 runs hampered by rain at the Galle International Cricket Stadium yesterday.
Colombo North rode to 252 for 5 wickets in the allotted 50 overs, but the DLS came into play following rain with Colombo South on 124 for 6 wickets after 30 overs leaving Colombo North winners by 71 runs on the DLS.
Colombo North reveled in the batting as in the tournament thus far, top scorer being Kaushika Tillekeratne 52 with other contributors mainly Lithum Sanjula an unbeaten 49, Shaveen Perera 43, Sanul Weeraratne 40 and Dumeen Liyanaarachci 21.
Accordingly, Colombo North will meet Colombo South in tomorrow’s final at the same venue by virtue of the latter having defeated Galle in the round robin to be placed second best in the tournament standings.
Kenula Pihilianga picked 3 wickets for 37 runs for Kandy.
Kandy’s innings of 124 revolved around Praveen Gamage’ 30 and Minuth Mindiya who scored 24.
