Her Excellency Ms. Sam Mostyn AC, Governor-General and Head of State of Australia, who is in Sri Lanka on a 3-day State visit, visited the Galle International Cricket Stadium on Saturday morning accompanied by His Excellency, the High Commissioner of Australia in Sri Lanka, Mr. Paul Stephens, and joined young cricketers of the Galle District age-group squads for a friendly game of cricket.
Ms Mostly, who is here on an invitation by President, Anura Kumara Dissanayake, was warmly welcomed at Galle by officials of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), and Mr. Bandula Dissanayake, Honorary Secretary of SLC, shared insights into the rich history of the iconic stadium.
During her visit, Ms. Mostyn also distributed cricket equipment to budding players, underscoring the strong sporting ties between Sri Lanka and Australia.
