England bowl out India for dramatic 22-run win in third test to go 2-up

In a pendulum swinging series, England retook the lead following a massive innings defeat in the second test to India evening up on England pulling off a high scoring first test.

The third test that reached a climax by the fourth day with India setting themselves up for what looked like a relatively cakewalk victory having bowled out England for 192 in the second innings.
But England hit back grabbing for early wickets including the key wicket of Shubman Gill by stumps setting the stage for a dramatic finish on the final day with the scales shifting England’s way.

Into the fifth day England’s bowlers overcame a resilient Ravindra Jadeja who carried his bat for a valiant 61 in lifting India from the misery of 7 for 82 to 112 for for 8 and 147 when it looked like he would pull off a miracle win for India with Jasprit Bumrah defying 54 balls for 5. But hope faded when Bumrah tried a big hit and fell as England skipper Ben Stokes accounting for his wicket.

Jadeja would take India bit further in s last ditch effort, but finally England prevailed when Shoaib Bashir bowled last man Mohammed Siraj for 5.

England 387 and 192 (Root 40, Washington 4-22) beat India 387 and 170 (Jadeja 61*, Stoke xxs 3-48, Archer 3-55) by 22 runs
