Sri Lanka Captain Dhananjaya de Silva said today on the eve of the second test against Bangladesh that Sri Lanka was concerned at the volume of runs conceded by the bowlers to Bangladesh at Galle in the first test.
“Too many runs were given judging by the rate Bangladesh scored in the two innings which is a worry we have been working on going into tomorrow’s second test at the SSC,” he said.
He said that he would be promoting himself up the batting order to bat at No. 4 following the retirement of Angelo Mathews.
The Lankan captain also hinted that all-rounders Dunith Wellalage a d Sonal Dinusha were most likely to play tomorrow.
He went on to observe that the SSC was known to favour batsmen and ‘We do hope the toss worls in our favour where by the fourth day the wicket cracks becoming bowler friendly.’
One issue was the wickets in Sri Lanka were not very helpful to pace bowlers whish was a handicap.
The final eleven would be decided judging by how the wicket would behave tomorrow when a final decision would be taken.
On Dunith Wellalage, he said, “Dunith Wellalage has been improving with every match he played both as a batsman and bowler which is a plus factor to having him in te playing eleven tomorrow,” Dhananjaya de Silva added.
Fast bowler Vishwa Fernando and Wellalage were added to SL’s squad and both were likely to make the final eleven.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh’s veteran all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz will replace Jaker Ali.
